Colleagues,
I hope all of you are safe and sound as our country continues to respond to the threat posed by the coronavirus. It is at times like this that I am especially proud of the utility industry and my utility colleagues around the country, and the efforts we are all making to ensure our hospitals and first responders and factories have the electricity and gas they need to operate without interruption.
I am excited to announce that your USGO Board has decided to hold the 2021 USGO annual meeting virtually. After serious discussion, we all agreed that a virtual meeting was the prudent move, especially given continued uncertainty around when USGO members may be allowed by their companies to return to work and travel. The date for the meeting is July 27, 2021. Please hold the date on your calendar.
We still intend to have association speakers and reports of state activity. There will also be some new items – a tour of the hotel’s distillery, a tour of the hotel, some ocean video and a virtual happy hour. To shorten state reports, the reports will be sent out ahead of time and the sessions on the agenda will just be Q&A. There will be a small fee for the conference of $100 to cover cancellation fees charged by the hotel and goody bags that will be sent to each of you in preparation for the virtual happy hour. We also ask that you please pay your annual dues, which will help cover a small cancellation fee with the hotel (they’ve allowed us to carry over our reservation to 2022) and allow us to begin preparing for the 2022 in-person USGO conference. It will be held at the historic Cavalier Hotel in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
You can use the us-go.org website to pay annual Membership Dues of $500 per Company, per State, and to maintain Sponsorship options. So if you haven’t already paid your $500 Membership Fee, will you please consider doing so at your earliest opportunity?
If paying by check, please mail to: USGO, Rae Rice – Sec/Treas., P O Box 321 MC 803, Oklahoma City, OK 73101-0321. Should you need our Tax ID # it is 31-0949179 – Thank You!
I look forward to seeing you all virtually in 2021 and IN PERSON in 2022 and I’m sure I will chat with each of you before then.
Stay safe and stay proud of the service you and your companies are providing during these trying times.
Lisa Carter Moerner
2021 USGO President
